APNIC Tutorial on Security Incident Response Teams

Afghanistan internet access has grown rapidly over the past few years and the number of citizens using the internet is expected to rise in the future. Information security has been critical to private and public sector. Professionals understand the importance of cyber security and have shown their interest in developing their skills on the topic. NITPAA has started a series of tutorials on the internet architecture and its governance which are delivered by APNIC through the web. The first session was held in April and was hosted at a local ISP (IO Global). NITPAA continued to facilitate online trainings from global experts to the local community and reached out to the Professional Development Institute (PDI) IT Unit of American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) to host our second sesssion on the topic of "Security Incident Response Teams".

The session was generously hosted at AUAF's main library with wonderful facilities and refreshments offered to the members of NITPAA. The tri-organizationi collaboration has been highly sucessful and has provided wonderful networking opportunities to NITPAA members. Today's (June 2, 2016) session started with President of the American University of Afghanistan Dr. Mark English's speech, who gave a warm welcome to NITPAA management and all other members. He emphasized on the importance of cyber security discussions and said that these discussions should come from individuals so that better processes and policies could be defined. PDI Associate Director Mr. Waziri gave an introduction of PDI to the members and offered discounts to NITPAA members.

The training provided by Mr. Adli Wahid was throughly enjoyed by the participants. They showed interest in continuing these trainings into more advanced networking topics. NITPAA will be working with APNIC and other international organizations to facilitate more similar sessions.
